About Us
Thanks for taking the time to visit and find out something about us.
We’re a small business with some big ideas,
based in the North of Scotland but active globally, exploiting the Internet to connect with people, increasing business opportunities and cutting costs.
Our main interest,
and biggest idea, relates to commercialising the results of research funded by the European Union under its Framework Programme 7, and particularly research in the healthcare sector. Of the €54 billion budget, the EU targets €30 billion at health, directing consortia of hospitals, universities, research institutes and SMEs at innovation the commercial sector won’t take on.
The medical devices market is thought to exceed $300 billion, annually. It’s very profitable and growing fast, with established vendors protected by barriers to entry including regulation, high risk investment and difficulties achieving adoption by the clinical communities.
FP7 removes risks involved by funding early research and having clinicians and scientists directing research. Every project needs to find a way for the innovations to reach people who can benefit. That’s the job of SMEs. Accordingly its the SME’s who get to own/exploit the results of the research.
That’s our big idea
– contributing our business development skills to research projects so we can share in the IPR and its subsequent commercialisation. The first iteration of the big idea is the use of biomechanics to diagnose, measure and monitor neurological diseases and their treatments.
It’s supported by a number of
Smaller Ideas,
all associated with making use of the Internet.
Today its possible for the smallest business, in the most remote part of the world, to connect with business partners – customers, suppliers, investors – anywhere. It’s also possible for the same smallest business to use infrastructure, tools and services which in the past have been the preserve of the largest businesses, and to do that at minimal cost, or even for free.
So that’s what we’re all about
– using our experience and skills to develop our FP7 opportunities, and help others use the Internet to make their own business wider, faster, cheaper.
